2016 Hurricane Season

eMazzanti Technologies Urges Disaster Recovery Planning to Prepare for Active 2016 Hurricane Season

Disaster recovery expert strongly advises business owners to prepare due to above-normal hurricane season predictions

Hoboken, New Jersey - (Cision) June 10, 2016 – eMazzanti Technologies, a New York City area IT consultant and managed services provider, commented today on predictions for the 2016 hurricane season, urging business leaders and owners to prepare for a greater than average number of major storms in the Atlantic. Hurricane season officially begins on June 1 and ends November 30.

“Any modern business with customer data, including retail and professional services, won’t survive if their systems aren’t operational soon after a disaster,” stated Jennifer Mazzanti, President, eMazzanti Technologies. “The 2016 Hurricane season could be business-ending for organizations that aren’t prepared.”

Watch Our Proudest Moment

Today’s statement was prompted by an above-normal hurricane forecast for 2016. An accuweather.com article dated June 2, 2016 informs readers that AccuWeather experts are forecasting eight hurricanes for the Atlantic basin with four of those predicted to become major hurricanes.

“Due to a combination of factors, this season is expected to be more active than any season in the past three years. Experts warn that those living along the Atlantic coast should be on alert,” states Jillian MacMath, AccuWeather.com Staff Writer.

2016 Hurricane Predictions

Each year experts predict the total number of hurricanes and the number of major storms. For 2016, AccuWeather.com’s long-range forecasting team anticipates:

  • 14 named tropical storms
  • 8 hurricanes
  • 4 major hurricanes
  • 3 Landfalls

eMazzanti is well-prepared to keep business up and running following all kinds of disasters. The company offers a variety of backup and disaster recovery services, including:

“Many businesses, and even cloud services providers have no idea if their disaster recovery plan will work because they don’t take the time to test it,” stated Carl Mazzanti, CEO, eMazzanti Technologies.

eMazzanti Technologies advises hundreds of businesses along the East Coast on business continuity and disaster recovery planning, counselling business owners to implement a comprehensive disaster recovery plan and test it regularly.

Disaster Recovery Planning

Without exception, forecasters warn the population to be prepared regardless of the forecast or their experience in prior years. The consensus is that it only takes one Hurricane coming ashore to cause a major disaster, and everyone near the Atlantic or Gulf Coast should be prepared.

Watch Disaster Recovery

The 2015 National Hurricane Center Annual Summary states that the 1981-2010 averages are twelve tropical storms, six hurricanes, and three major hurricanes. Three tropical storms are forecast to make landfall in the U.S. this year.

These numbers are a significant increase from 2015 with twice as many major hurricanes forecast compared to what actually materialized in 2015. Two tropical storms reached major hurricane strength in 2015 and two made landfall; Tropical Storm Ana in South Carolina and Tropical Storm Bill along the central Texas coast. Seventy-six direct deaths were caused by that season’s tropical cyclone activity.
