CryptoWall Epidemic is Here

A New Version of Cryptolocker is back… THE CRYPTOWALL EPIDEMIC is HERE!

What is CryptoWall?
Cryptowall is a ransomware Trojan virus similar to Cryptorbit and CyrptoLocker. The virus infects a computer and encrypts crucial files. Users may not be able to access their data which will be hidden once CryptoWall has taken its toll. Cryptowall can affect files including *.doc, *.docx, *.xls, *.ppt, *.psd, *.pdf, *.eps, *.ai, *.cdr, and *.jpg.

Who is vulnerable to a CryptoWall?
CryptoWall is designed to infect all versions of Windows including XP, Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8. If you are still using XP, you are especially vulnerable as support for XP ended on April 8th with no updates.

How can I get CryptoWall?
CryptoWall Ransomware is spread through a fake update notices for applications such as Adobe Reader, Flash Player, or Java. It can also come from opening spam emails and malicious advertisements on major websites. BE CAUTIOUS and USE YOUR JUDGEMENT! Do not click on suspicious files, ads, or downloads from your e-mail or the Internet.
What to look out for?
CryptoWall will prompt a message on the infected computer that explains what has happened and what to do. Do not follow these instructions, call eMazzanti Technologies to remove the virus from your network.

This is a sample message you may receive:
The virus may ask that you pay a $500 fee to recover your encrypted data. Payment is requested through Bitcoins or TOR (The Onion Router – this allows you to browse the internet anonymously) as in the following example. Do not pay this fee as it does not guarantee your information will be returned to you.
