New eMazzanti Technologies Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Solutions Protect Small and Medium Businesses from Hurricane Irene

Hoboken, New Jersey - (PRWeb) August 27, 2011 –If Hurricane Irene didn’t destroy your business and all its data, you were either very lucky or very prepared. eMazzanti Technologies, an IT support and computer expert servicing the greater New York City area announces two new data backup solutions: eCare Advanced Backup Client (ABC) for small companies with basic backup needs and eCare Advanced Backup System (ABS), for larger businesses that need fast recovery capabilities.

“Hurricane Irene is a wakeup call for many business owners who have not properly protected their data,” noted Jennifer Mazzanti, president eMazzanti Technologies. “We have two new solutions to make customers confident their businesses will continue uninterrupted regardless of the type of disaster.”

Recovery Options to Meet Every Size Business

eMazzanti Technologies has two robust business continuity/disaster recovery solutions:

1. eCare Advanced Backup Client (ABC)-For smaller sized businesses that only need file folder level backup rather than system or network-wide backup—think of it as a basic “ABC” solution to data protection. This size business finds it more convenient back up individual document files rather than operating systems or applications that exist as on-site as OEM-provided DVDs.

2. eCare Advanced Backup System (ABS)-For larger businesses or firms where fast recovery from a data disaster is vital to the bottom-line. This Advanced Backup System solution ensures the entire system or network is backed up—files, computers, servers and all default or custom network settings. Think of it as a complete “snapshot” of your network that can be restored, in some cases, in 30 minutes or less.

Regardless of the solution chosen, the right choice in Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery is eMazzanti Technologies. It’s only a matter of time before a company will experience a business-shattering loss.

“Though some of our customers may be affected by Hurricane Irene, none that have an eMazzanti disaster recovery and business continuity solution need worry,” said Mazzanti.

Five Tips to Prepare Electronics for Disasters

No matter how Hurricane Irene affected your business, now is a smart time to prepare and secure your electronics. The first step, if a disaster is eminent, is to follow the helpful tips below.

The second step is to find and utilize a disaster recovery/business continuity professional to protect the future of your business.

Tip #1: Protect your backup data

If you have an external HD in the USB dock attached to the backup unit it is recommended that you take the hard drive home with you today or store it in a safe location. All you need to do is unplug it and take it with you. Handle it with care, as the hard drive inside is fragile and will not react well to being dropped or excessively jarred.

Tip #2: Unplug all electric equipment that can be shut down

Power outages during a hurricane or other natural disaster will inevitably last longer than any battery backup can secure your equipment, as utility crews will not even be dispatched for safety reasons until the storm passes. Therefore it is futile to try to keep any non-critical equipment plugged in. Moreover, disasters are frequently accompanied by very large surges to the electric grid, some of which can overwhelm surge protectors and fry your equipment. Machines that are turned off and on again several times in quick succession can have the data on the hard drive corrupted and will require restoration from backups. The only real protection is to physically unplug the power to these devices.

Keep in mind that water can travel through ceiling tiles and start dripping in places far away from the actual leak. It is also a good idea to cover them with a large black trash bag or other types of plastic sheeting. Of course, all computer and phone equipment must be properly shut down before being unplugged.

Tip #3: Raise all equipment off of the floor

The other big consideration is water damage. Equipment should be raised off the floor, even if only by a few inches. If anything is close to a window or door, you might want to move it away, or enclose in a plastic bag (of course, after it’s been unplugged!).

Tip #4: Consider your own personal safety and preparation

All of the above also apply to your home electronics, as they are susceptible to the same surges that your office equipment is. Consider purchasing a battery powered radio for emergency messages, flashlights and enough water and food for the weekend for your entire family. Also very important is to make sure your cell phone is fully charged and you have a full tank of gas in your car.

Tip #5: After-the-Disaster Preparation

Many people are often surprised by the aftermath a storm or natural disaster can bring. Too many are in shock and therefore unable to respond in a timely fashion. Therefore, the final consideration focuses on after the storm.

“So, small and medium businesses without a backup solution that specifically matches their need to quickly recover from a disaster, should seek the computer and IT expertise of a professional like eMazzanti Technologies,” concludes Mazzanti.
